Joshimath a place of historic importance, found during the period of 790 to 820 B.C., is located in the warm lap of bountiful nature is a sacred hill station. This spiritual abode of Adi Shankaracharya is an ideal health point and a perfect place of vacation. It is here where Shri Narsingh temple, Navadurga temple, Garuda temple, Amarkalp tree and Shankaracharya Math enshrine.
Adi Shankaracharya who hailed from Namboodiri family of Kerala founded a reformed arya dharma on the basis of reason and logic. He also provided an elaborated commentary on the Vedanta. He then retired to Jyotirmath from where in Kedarnath at the early age of thirty-one. Found his peace with god (789 to820 BC).
