Blue Pine is a very
special place for a quiet and peaceful holiday as it is away from the
usual commotion of hill stations. It is mainly divided into two units
- one is in the main building and the other is a little distance away.
The main unit consists of 7 spacious well furnished bedrooms, a big
dining room and a multi cuisine restaurant and the cottage units

Lansdowne is situated at altitude of around 1,706 meters on a hill, which was
originally known as ‘Kaludanda’ in local language, enroute Kotdwar-Pauri road.
The nearest railway station is Kotdwar at a distance of about 45 km.
Rail :
Nearest railway station is Kotdwar (40 kms), which is well
connected by buses. Kotdwar is well connected with Delhi.
Road :
Lansdowne is well connected to Dehradun, Rishikesh, Kotdwar and
other cities of the region. From Delhi the best option is to start
early and drive via Delhi - Meerut - Bijnaur - Najibabad - Kotdwar and
onwards to Lansdowne. Kotdwar is the last station on the plains where
after the hill drive starts. Resort is around 40 Kms from Kotdwar. It
takes 5-6 hours from Delhi to reach the resort.
Adventure :
The best way to explore Lansdowne is to go for trekking. A
tourist looking for nature trails can have all their demands
fulfilled. Camping and river crossing are the favorite pastimes of
tourists who visit this place.
A number of treks into the hillside are launched from Lansdowne, which
is a popular base camp. The nature treks range from simple hiking
trails of a few hours or one day’s duration, to tougher climbs lasting

LANSDOWNE - A NATURE UNEXPLORED :
Lansdowne is a small and quaint hill-station which houses the command
office of famous Garhwal Rifles of the Indian Army. Rifleman Gabbar
Singh Rawat of Garhwal Rifles was the first Indian awarded Victoria
Cross. Lansdowne is also famous for variety of birds and their sounds,
a paradise for bird
watchers. It is a perfect place for enjoying the natural beauty in
calm and quiet surroundings of
oak and blue pine jungle devoid of pollution …... a unique experience
for city dwellers.

Lansdowne is a beautiful retreat. It was founded during the British
Raj by ‘Lord Lasndowne’ in 1887 A.D., thus the place has been named
after him. The town is well developed, yet it is charmingly unspoiled
and tranquil. The famous Garhwal Rifles of the Indian Army also has
its command office here. They have maintained the old-world charm of
the 19th century and the place is still an ideal getaway.
Lansdowne is ideal for a lazy, relaxing holiday. Excursions from the
city can be made to the Tarkeshwar Mahadev temple or Jwalpadevi
,situated 45 km from Lansdowne. Kotdwar is a gateway to the hills and
one of the last rail terminal for Garhwal. Kotdwar also contains
the Sidhbali temple and Karnva Ashram. The ancient Karnva Ashram is
located 14 km from Lansdowne. Legend has it that Shankuntala gave
birth to prince Bharat here, after whose name the country is called
Bharat Varsh.
Kanvashram : Situated at a distance of around 40 Kms from Lansdowne or
14kms. from Kotdwar, Kanva Rishi Ashram is an important place from the
historical and archaeological point of view.
Tarkeshwar Mahadev : 41 kms. from Lansdowne and at a height of 2,100
meters, this place is known for its temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Surrounded by thick forests of deodar & Pine, it is an ideal place for
those who seek for beauty in nature. Best option to reach the place is
to hire a jeep at Lansdowne as the drive is treacherous.
Bhulla Lake : On top of the town, Bhulla Lake offers an alike all-day
fun to young and old both, maintained by the Indian Army. The neat and
clean lake has boating facilities, an amusement park and a number of
beautiful birds. The amazingly charming environment tempts you to
visit the place again and again. An added feature is that you do not
have to climb the hills to reach the lake, you can drive right up to
the entrance

Jwalpadevi : 50 km is one of the better-known religious areas of the
entire division on the main Pauri-Kotdwar road. A large number of
devotees come here during Ashtami (April and October) for pilgrimage.
Khirsu : The snow-covered mountains of Khirsu offers a panoramic view
of the Central Himalayas and attracts a large number of tourists. From
here one can get a clear view of many named and unnamed peaks. Located
19 kms. away from Pauri town and appx 100 Kms from Lansdowne, at an
altitude of around 2,000 meters, Khirsu is a peaceful spot, free from
pollution. The tranquility of the adjoining thick Oak and Deodar
forests and apple orchards, is broken only by the chirping of birds.
The nearby ancient temple of Ghandiyal Devta is also worth a visit. |
